Today was orientation day at Durham College for all us eager first year students. I unfortunately rolled out of bed at nine, not realizing the actual orientation session for my Contemporary Web Design program was at ten. When I finally arrived after my hour drive into Oshawa, the orientation session was happening, but I was busy wandering around finding where to get my parking pass, where to change my name, and then oh yeah – better go find out where I get one of those snazzy green t-shirts everyone is wearing.
So I wander, finally ask someone where I am suppose to go. They tell me to go to the Society of Media Arts and Design, so I go looking for that. Can’t find it anywhere. By the time I ask another volunteer they look at me like I have four heads and tell me I need to go to where the orientation session is happening for my program.
Oh. You mean, you have to attend or your orientation session to get a t-shirt? Oh…
By the time I find the classroom where my orientation was suppose to happen it was pitch black in the room and devoid of any students. I gingerly entered the next classroom where the fine arts students were meeting and begged for a t-shirt.
I got one.

I would call the day a success, minus the missing of my orientation. I got the name change and parking pass situation taken care of. Also, I figured out where my class room is tomorrow. I still need to get my student card, but it was a two hour wait to get one today and there is really no rush for me to get one.
I am excited for tomorrow, and I am planning to jump into bed early tonight to be ready for the real first day of school.
