My first day at Durham College went by quickly, and I was absolutely exhausted after the drive home. So instead of writing about my day I went straight to bed. My first class was Illustration and Design, which is my Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator class. I am excited to learn more about Illustrator and am always up for increasing my Photoshop skills, so I am definitely excited for this class. I purchased a tablet around the same time I bought my Macbook Pro so I am hoping to try it out in this class and hopefully get the hang of it. So far using it (less than an hour of using it might I add) it felt very awkward and clunky. I plan on bringing my mouse along too just incase the tablet is just too awkward for me, but I will certainly give it a try.
My second day was an early day at school (class was at 8:00, so I had to wake up for 6:00). I had my elective Social Media and Society and my teacher is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject and was really fun to listen to. My first assignment for this class is “make a blog – answer the question is social media a fad or the next best thing since the industrial revolution”. Since it is just a general elective and not specific to my web design program, we were told we don’t have to do anything fancy for the website, but I plan on fancying it up anyway. I think the most interesting thing my professor said today was, “With social media we as the public have the voice”. I found that very inspiring and it certainly made me more energetic to improve my social media skills and learn more about social media.
As for now, I am heading to bed to be rested up for Typography and Colour Theory tomorrow, which should be interesting to learn about. I will -of course- report back tomorrow!
